Not a rugged sweater, but very warm.

This is the warmest sweater I own, and I loved the look of it, but the sweater is not at all meant for outdoors. The suede patches does little to protect the wool. In fact, the patches were the first parts to start looking bad as they started to take on wear. The elbows started looking rough first, then developed holes. The shoulders started to wear out as soon as I started using a backpack while wearing the sweater. Sleve ends began to fray and unravel after a year. Then the bottom hem frayed and unraveled. I bought the sweater on impulse because it looked rugged, but it is not meant for any kind of outdoor work. It is a fashion sweater, not an outdoor work sweater.

The wool is very warm, however. Despite the tattered look, I am still wearing this sweater in bad weather because it does keep the heat quite well. I would love another wool sweater like this one, but with patches, hem, and cuffs made of a more protective leather rather than a decorative suede. My cuffs, take wear from my workgloves and the hem takes wear from my work pants. The elbows from using a rough, wooden desk at my wildfire lookout. The shoulders take wear from backpacks and my fall arrest harness. The wool is knit quite well and has stood up to more wear than the suede did. I'm very impressed with the knit.
